This past Monday was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Several staff members of Victory Nissan had the opportunity to spend it with other citizens, city of Chesapeake leaders, and businesses during the 10^th annual Chesapeake Martin Luther King Breakfast. The event was hosted at the Chesapeake Conference Center by Exodus Faith Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop E. W. Jackson, Sr.

Victory Nissan supported this annual event as a “Silver Sponsor.” Our table was front left of the head table, and was greeted personally by our very own Mayor Alan P. Krasnoff and City Council member C.E. “Cliff” Hayes, Jr. when they stopped by our table. Councilman Hayes let us know that he’d recently visited our Service Department with his Nissan. Jokingly, we told him to hurry back to purchase a new one; wait, maybe we weren’t completely joking. <smile>

The purpose of this event is to recognize city leaders and citizens that exemplify dynamic service to our beautiful city of Chesapeake.

This year’s winners were Major Tracy D. Branch, of the Chesapeake Police Dept, Larry and Paula Cobb, WYRM 1110 AM Radio and long time supporters of the event, “Mother” Ethel Grandy, Community Activist, Barry K. Jennings, Bat. Chief for the Chesapeake Fire Department, Col. J. O’Sullivan, Chesapeake Sheriff’s Dept., Herbert Mitchell, Sr., owner of Mitchell’s Upholstery, and Judge Eileen A. Olds, Chesapeake JDR District Court. The Mistress of Ceremony was WTKR-13 morning news anchor Laila Muhammad.

VICTORY FILLS A TALL ORDER

Do you recall this national insurance company's slogan; "like and good neighbor...?" Well we like to think of ourselves as that good neighbor who takes prides in our community. We're not able to be everywhere, but it's important to be where it matters most.

Trip Tips when Traveling this Holiday with the Family

 

The holiday season is upon us, the time for fun, food, family, and friends. What better time is there than now to reconnect with loved ones near and far? Travel is less complicated when you are single; your only concern is yourself, you just throw a few things in a bag and go. It becomes a little more challenging when you travel with a family. Hopping on an airplane with luggage, gifts, the children and a car seat is not such an easy task, not to mention waiting in that long line to pass through security. The most economical, less restrictive and easiest way to travel with a family is by vehicle. Listed below are some tips for traveling the highways home for the holidays:

ü  Prior to setting off on a long car ride, get plenty of sleep the night before and eat something substantial

ü  Be sure the car is in peak travel condition--the tires are properly inflated, your fluids levels are topped off, and the gas tank is full

ü  Pack a backpack or bag of some sort just for the kids, filled with books, crayons, toys, travel-size board games are fun, for older children you may want to include a map so they can diagram the trip route. It may alleviate the infamous questions, “How much further?” or “Are we there yet?”

ü  Bring along audio books for the entire family to enjoy, portable DVD players for the children to watch their favorite movies can be beneficial

ü  Include lots of snacks and treats, if you think you have enough, pack more

ü  Set aside time to stop at restaurants and rest stops; allow time for restroom breaks

ü  Safety is always of the utmost importance, ensure that you have emergency items--jumper cables, blankets, a flashlight, and a first-aid kit

Introducing Amanda Cantu

Originally from Southern California, Amanda has spent the last 6 years here in Hampton Roads. Brought to the area by the United States Navy, Amanda's tour ended here and she loves it. When asked what she loves the most, she quickly says, "the change of seasons, and her job at Victory Nissan."

Amanda came to Victory Nissan in 2007 as a Service Assistant. It did not take long for her to transition into a full-time Service Advisor. Today, she remains in this role along with the added task of process operations -acting as a liaison between the service and sales department.

A lot  of Amanda's time is spent on-line responding to customer's questions and comments. She averages 15 emails a day, some of which are very entailed and require answers that she does not have. These questions are the bridge-gappers, as it requires her to deal with various departments to assure the right response is given to the customer.

Amanda will tell you that working in the automotive industry is not as bad as some women might think. "Victory has a great mix," according to Amanda, "and there are plenty of women that work in the Service Department that know their stuff!"Additionally, Amanda adds,"having men and women on staff creates a balance that allows teamwork to come more naturally, thus reaching the ultimate goal of satisfying the customer."

You can find Amanda in the Service Department, her desk sits directly in front of the boss's door. She'll tell you that it keeps her on her toes, but she was a little disappointed when he applied a translucent screen print to his windows and door. (smile)

Amanda is looking forward to her continued internet work and maintaining Victory's on-line presence, but more importantly, allowing more customers to receive the consumer support they're in need of.

Victory Nissan Recognizes the Holiday

and remains committed to the Community

Happy Thanksgiving to all our customers and friends! In the spirit of the season, Ryan Hall, Fixed Ops Director and staff will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner to those less fortunate, Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk, VA. 

Victory Nissan is by no means a stranger to serving the community. Victory recently donated funds to the Development Office of Chesapeake Medical Regional Medical Center, where this money is used to support Cancer services for the Sidney M. Oman Cancer Center.

This past Nor’easter left many people in the Hampton Roads area in need of clothing, food and shelter. Victory partners with the American Red Cross all year long, but has given a special donation to aide victims affected by the vicious November storm.  

In conjunction with the Nissan Corporation, Victory Nissan is a drop-off location for new, un-opened toys in support of the “Toys for Tots” program. Please consider donating today, and bring us your toys.
